The Rajdoot brand, a popular name in Indian motorcycles during the 1980s, is set to make a comeback in the Indian market. In the 80s, the Escorts Group launched several motorcycles under the Rajdoot name, including a model that was quite advanced for its time. To compete with the Bullet 350, Rajdoot introduced its modern-retro bike, the RD350.
To enhance the RD350, Rajdoot entered a joint venture with Yamaha. This bike featured dual exhausts, a six-speed gearbox, drum brakes, and a 16-liter fuel tank. However, its high price made it unaffordable for many at that time. Now, after 25 years, Rajdoot is preparing to re-enter the Indian market, with the first step being the relaunch of the RD350.

Design
The new RD350 will retain the retro look of the old model, while incorporating modern technology and updated features that make it a powerful bike. The bike will have a round headlight in the front, giving it a stylish look. The handlebars will be wider, making riding even more comfortable.
While the old RD350 had drum brakes on both wheels, the new RD350 will feature disc brakes on both wheels, enhancing its braking capabilities. It will come with a flat, single seat that provides a comfortable seating position. The suspension will feature upside-down forks instead of the previous telescopic ones, and the rear suspension will include dual shock absorbers, adding to its retro style.
Engine option and performance
The engine in the new RD350 has been fully updated. Instead of the old two-stroke engine, it will now have a BS6-compliant 349cc four-stroke engine. This engine will be equipped with leak-cooling technology, which will prevent overheating issues. This engine is expected to generate around 20 to 35 horsepower and will have a six-speed gearbox.
The seat height has been lowered, improving the riding position. One major improvement is the mileage. While the old RD350 offered only 10 km per liter, the new RD350 is expected to deliver around 30 km per liter, making it more economical given rising fuel prices.
Features
The new RD350 will be loaded with advanced technology features. It will include a round LED headlight and a twin-pod setup with an analog meter console. For safety, it will have dual-channel ABS. Additionally, it will feature twin exhausts, LED indicators, and an LED tail light.
Price and Launch Date
This time, Rajdoot aims to keep the price of the new RD350 competitive. The estimated price is around INR 2,00,000, making it a contender in the Indian market against bikes like Jawa and Yezdi. Its launch is expected in early 2025, so motorcycle enthusiasts will have to wait a bit longer.
